Enveloped in a sober and elegant way, the album 50 years of Bossa Nova offers cozy and warm atmospheres, evoking the warm evenings spent in a Rio cabaret, with soft lights, with evening dresses and lanterns on tables. The album includes 12 songs which have marked the history of this musical current such as Manhã of carnival, Chega de Saudade, Agua de Beber, Desafinado, A felicidade, without forgetting the famous Garota de Ipanema. Jean-François interprets these great Brazilian classics in Portuguese, which give them back their original flavor and brings us closer to the essence of what was the Bossa Nova of the 60s. Jean-François also throws light on the close bond that Brazilian artists have maintained with certain French aficionados. In a sense, he interprets Les eaux de mars, translated by Georges Moustaki and Samba Saravah translated by Pierre Barouh. Finally, two Quebec songs are revisited for the occasion, Gilberto by Diane Tell and Chanter danser by Gilles Rivard, two gems that transcend the years and that still remain today as irresistible.
